LARGO, FL (WFLA) -

A woman was shot early Thursday morning at the Fountains of Largo complex off Wilcox Road.

A neighbor told News Channel 8 she heard a single gunshot around 5:30 a.m. and later heard police arrive.

The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office deputies are now assisting Largo Police with the case. According to Largo PD, a man came to an apartment in Building 13 and knocked on the door. A man and a woman inside answered the door and the visitor shot the woman in the leg when she was standing in the hallway, officers said.

PCSO deputies are investigating a possible related incident that happened recently. Detectives believe the victim knew the shooter or somebody who knew him.

Police said the shooting didn't appear to be drug-related. They do not have anybody in custody. The shooting victim is at a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
