WILLIAMSTON, N.C. - The residents of a Martin County home got out before a fire destroyed their home early Tuesday morning, according to Robersonville fire officials.

Fire crews responded to a home on the 200 block of Broad Street near the downtown district of Everetts around 3:30 am.

Officials say the house quickly became fully engulfed, but the five people who live in the home were able to make it out without any injuries.  The house is believed to be a total loss.  It is not yet clear what caused the fire.

Fire crews from Williamston, Bear Grass and Robersonville worked together to get the fire under control by around 5:00 am, and as of 7:30 am were still working on some hot spots.
