RUSKIN, FL (WFLA) -

Monico Carmona said he did everything in his power to save his four-year-old daughter.

“I lost my daughter. I already knew I lost her. You couldn't hear her voice. Even though you didn't hear anything, you already knew she was gone because within minutes the whole trailer was on fire,” said Carmona.

Carmona’s mobile in Wolfs Mobile Home Park in Ruskin caught on fire late Friday night. Carmona said it was his girlfriend who woke him up.

“She woke me up saying there is smoke coming underneath the bed. As soon as I threw the water on the floor it was like gasoline, it just went crazy started spreading everywhere,” said Carmona.

Carmona was able to get his girlfriend, two infants and his two-year-old daughter out of the home. However, he couldn’t reach four-year-old Alejandra in time.

“I tried to stick my hand in there and see if I could feel her. By then my hand was already burning,” said Carmona.

Hillsborough County Fire Rescue have not said what caused the fire that leveled most of the mobile home. Carmona said he and his girlfriend were burning tea candles earlier in the evening, but they blew them out before going to sleep.

“How a candle this big could stay on for two hours and catch a whole mattress on fire,” said Carmona.

Friends and family washed cars for hours Sunday trying to raise money for Carmona. He lost everything in the fire and his car.

Carmona had burns on his ears and hands from trying to save Alejandra.

“God needed, God has plans for her. Maybe he needs her to look over us, the family,” added Carmona.
