TAMPA, FL (WFLA) -

Valentine's Night at the Florida State Fair. It's a night for lovers, but it's also a night for families to come out and enjoy what this tradition has to offer.

The Curley family came to enjoy his daughter's 14th birthday. Her dad heard about the so-called "wilding" incident last Friday.

"I think it's very scary. You don't know what they're going to be doing and everything. You hope that it doesn't happen when you're here," he said.

In an effort to make sure of that, the Hillsborough Sheriff's Office deployed a huge contingent of deputies. On horseback, on foot, and even at three strategically-placed lifts to get a view from above, they watched for any signs of trouble.

There are also cameras mounted on tall polls, beaming signals back to a command post, where more deputies monitor the fair.

After last week’s mayhem where teens rampaged through the midway, pushing people, stealing things, and starting fights, its "no more Mr. Nice guy" as far as the cops are concerned.

"If anyone wants to come out here and they want to engage any kind of misconduct, there's not going to be any warnings. There's not going to be any ejections. If you violate the law, you're gonna be arrested" said Col. Jim Previtera. The Sheriff's office wants people to know, the fair is safe for everybody and last week's bout of bad behavior was isolated.

The show of force seemed to work. "I felt more comfortable coming tonight because I felt like the security would be better with all that, that went on" said Marybeth Curley.

Valentine's night at the fair? The thrills came from the rides and not from groups of teens, on a mission to ruin in for everybody.
