ORLANDO, FL (WFLA) -

The parents of 14-year-old Andrew Joseph, who was hit and killed on Interstate-4 after he was ejected from the fair, said they still want to know why they weren’t called by the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Department.

“We were not called. They did not let us know that my son was with them,” said Deanna Joseph. The family has now hired an attorney.

On Saturday the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office representative Jim Previtera said, “There’s no way we can take control of every child and call their parents.”

On Thursday, the sheriff’s office said they will try.

“When it's practical and that means when the circumstances aren't like they were on Friday night we are going to make every attempt to notify a parent that they've been asked to leave the fair. If there is a situation where we need to keep them and the parent ask us to, as long as it's practical and our manpower allows us to, we will keep them,” said Col. Jim Previtera with the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.

Col. Previtera also said there will not be as many ejections.

“We are going to arrest anyone that engages in any kind of misconduct on the mid-way and rather than have to worry about babysitting them or holding on to them. We're going to arrest them and take them to the juvenile assessment center and they'll be released from there to their parents.”

The sheriff’s office hopes the threat of arrest will encourage teens to behave.
