Wrong-way driver in deadly I-275 crash identified

The Florida Highway Patrol has released the name of the wrong-way driver who hit and killed four USF fraternity members on I-275 early Sunday morning.

Daniel Lee Morris, 28, has been identified as the driver of the Ford Expedition that hit another vehicle head on, killing Sigma Beta Rho Fraternity brothers, Jobin Kuriakose, Ankeet Patel, Dammie Yesudhas, and Imtiyaz "Jim" Ilias.  Troopers say Morris also died at the scene.

The Hillsborough County Medical Examiner on Tuesday positively identified Morris as the driver of the SUV.

Morris, 28, recently moved to Tampa from St. Claire Shores, Michigan and had been residing with a friend, Scott Eric Enfinger, 27, of Tampa, according to FHP.

On Feb. 9, Morris had taken Enfinger's 2001 Ford Expedition and shortly thereafter was involved in the wrong-way crash.  Troopers say Morris was driving southbound in the northbound lanes of I-275.  State Troopers are trying to determine where Morris entered the interstate and whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.

This crash remains under investigation.
