Construction duo accused of stealing items from new homes

TAMPA, FL (WFLA) - Two Tampa construction workers have been arrested after the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office says they stole items from new homes they were working on.

Officials say 25-year-old
Joshua Rene DeLeon-Oliva and 30-year-old Luis Alberto Richkarday-Nunez were arrested after detectives began investigating new construction burglaries. 

Investigators were able to determine that Nunez, owner of Quality Trim of Tampa and one of his workers, Oliva, were subcontracted by KB Homes. 

The pair would allegedly work late and steal items from the homes that were under construction.

Both men were taken into custody Thursday while they were in Gibsonto.

Detectives then went to their mobile homes in the Davpam Mobile Home Park where a search uncovered some of the stolen items such as granite counter tops, appliances, flooring, and molding were used to remodel  Nunez’s mobile home and KB Homes retrieved the stolen items.

Officials say Oliva’s mobile home was being utilized as storage for the old items removed out of Nunez’s mobile home.

The investigation continues and other charges are pending.
