LAKELAND, FL (WFLA) - A Lakeland Police Officer was injured in a car accident Sunday night at the intersection of Massachusetts and Plum Street in Lakeland.

Officer Nicholas Pollice was driving in a marked police car in non-emergency mode when a vehicle driven by 49-year-old Emilio M Gonzalez drove into the intersection entering the officer's fight of way causing the accident, according to police.

Officer Pollice was transported to Lakeland Regional Medical Center for a broken wrist.  Gonzalez was not injured and was issued a non-criminal citation for Approaching/Entering an Intersection.
