TAMPA, FL (WFLA) -

Julie Schenecker, the New Tampa mother who is accused of shooting and killing her two teenage children, returned to a Hillsborough county courtroom Friday.

Her defense attorney argued before the court that a statement made after the murders by Schenecker's neighbor Deanne Patchan, could be prejudicial.

"She asked her what's wrong or how are you, and her comment was that she was going to kill Calyx, she dismissed that she didn't have any further conversation with Ms. Schenecker at that time she just thought it was normal parent frustration," said Jennifer Spradley.

But, the prosecution says the statement backs up their contention that the murders were premeditated.

"We would submit that Ms. Schenecker being angry, having vodka, a potential glass in her hand that Ms. Pacthan thought was vodka, looking angry and so mad saying, 'I want to kill her', is relevant to intent and prior motivation," said State Attorney Stephen Udagawa.

The judge ruled the statement can be admissible in court

Reached at her New Tampa home, Patchan said she will do her civic duty and testify in the case.
