Cat falls into a well, SC owner goes down after her

Posted: Updated:

Would you lower yourself down a 35 foot well to save your pet?  Joey Dover from Gaffney did just that in order to save his beloved cat, Buttons.

Joey's mom, Barbara Dover, says her son has had the cat for almost a decade and loves her like family.  Buttons went missing for 7 days and Joey was devastated.

You could hear the cat underneath the house so Dover decided to try and rescue the animal that had somehow fallen into a well.

Joey tied a rope around himself and the other end to his pickup truck. Then he crawled underneath the house, and into the well.

The plan was for his sister to get in the truck and try and pull him up but he fell into the well instead. It took rescuers two hours to get to both of them.

Joey suffered mainly bumps and bruises and has a sore back but Buttons is back to being herself. The well will get a cover to prevent that from happening again.
