Teen charged in shooting near Rocky Mount church

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. -

A 17-year-old has been charged in connection with a shooting outside a Rocky Mount church Monday night.

Police charged Shyheim Collins with four counts of attempted murder, after four young people, ages 12 to 19 were shot. One was listed in critical condition.

Collins is accused of shooting more than 15 bullets towards the crowd who were playing basketball behind Word Tabernacle Church on Nashville Road.

The injured include 12-year-old Nyreek Horne, Michael Lyons, 17, Jakavis Whaley, 19 and Antwon Jefferson, 13.

Sunday, the church plans to address the violence during their scheduled services.
