Polk jury finds Samuel Sweet guilty of musician's murder

POLK COUNTY, FL (WFLA) -

A Polk county jury on Thursday found Samuel Sweet Jr. guilty of first degree murder in the shooting death of Orlando musician Ralph Ameduri outside a Winter Haven night club in September of 2011.

Ameduri was playing with a band, and the band had taken a break outside when the botched robbery took place. Ameduri was struck by a single shot to the head.

Sweet was 17-years-old at the time, but prosecutors charged him as an adult.

He was also found guilty of attempted robbery and tampering with evidence

Sweet's conviction on the first degree murder charge carries a mandatory life sentence. A sentencing date has not yet been set.
