ST PETERSBURG, FL (WFLA) -

Two Gibbs High School students who appeared in a Facebook video showing a fight inside a classroom have been disciplined.

The incident happened on Tuesday. A student at the school used a cell phone to record the fight between the two girls as they threw punches and pulled each other's hair. Their teacher tried to stop the fight, while students egged the girls on.

By the time other staff members arrived to help the teacher break up the fight, the altercation was over.

Pinellas County Schools Spokesperson Melanie Marquez says the girls violated school policy.

"We have very strict policy against fighting," she said.

School officials have not released the names of the girls involved in the fight, or information about the discipline they received.

"It is going to depend on the students specific record of what they are going to receive. But, our school policy calls for suspension or expulsion or reassignment in situations such as this," said Marquez.
