A Fayetteville man has been charged in connection with a
November 2013 murder in Hope Mills.
James Michael Van Dorn, 31, is charged with first-degree
murder in connection with the Nov. 23, 2013, death of 26-year old Christopher
Lee Jackson, Jr.
The Cumberland County Sheriff's Office says Jackson was
killed at inside a home in the 4100 block of Hattie Grey Avenue in Hope Mills.
Deputies say he was hit on the head and his throat was slit.
Jackson's aunt Lorraine Hadley and a woman who lives near Hattie
Grey Avenue said Jackson was renovating the home where he was killed.
Van Dorn is being held in the Cumberland County Detention
Center without bond.
Family members say the man who fired the shots was not the same Andrew Jay Michaelis they knew.
