COLUMBUS, OH (WFLA) -

Have you ever heard of a snow roller?

It's a rare winter weather phenomenon -- that only happens when the conditions are just right.

The process involves the perfect combination of ice, snow, and wind.

Essentially, the wind acts as a hand, rolling the snow.

In order for a snow roller to form, the ground must be covered by a layer of ice, which then must be covered by wet, loose snow.

The temperature needs to be near melting, and the wind has to be strong enough to move the snow rollers, but not blow them apart.
