According to a Manatee County Sheriff’s Office report deputies were dispatched to 5007 13th St. West in Palmetto just before 11 p.m. in response to a deceased person call. When they arrived they found Willie Lee Jones dead from a gunshot wound.

Williamson told investigators that Jones, 65, came over to visit him. Nobody else was in the home at the time.

The suspect called 9-1-1 after he claimed he found the victim unresponsive on the floor. Detectives determined that Jones had been shot. Several firearms were removed from the home and Williamson was arrested.

He is charged with one count of second-degree murder. Williamson has two prior arrests in Manatee County for driving under the influence.
