Credit card companies ban the purchase of pot

Some credit card companies are banning consumers from buying marijuana with their credit cards, even in states where it is legal.

American Express, Visa and MasterCard forbid the use of their credit cards to purchase marijuana, even for medical reasons. But some dispensaries in Colorado are flouting those rules.

American Express points to the federal law, which says the use of marijuana is illegal.

A spokesman for MasterCard said they're seeking guidance from the federal government.
