PASCO COUNTY, FL (WFLA) - Monday's shooting at a Pasco County movie theater not only claimed the life of Chad Oulson, but also left his widow, Nicole,  with a severe hand injury.

Nicole is still recovering from reconstructive surgery.  Her attorneys talked to the media on Friday.

They said that it has been a tough week for the widow and mother of Chad Oulson's 22-month-old daughter.

"She is holding up," said attorney T.J. Grimaldi.  "But I also know she is holding up to be strong for that little girl and I know that when the time comes or when this all hits her that is beyond just the story, I think she is going to have a very difficult road ahead of her."

Others are trying to make that road to recovery a little easier.

Chad Oulson's former employer is collecting money for the widow and so is West Shore Pizza.  Her attorney says she's in disbelief over the outpouring of financial support for her family.

"They are not asking for it by no means but they need whatever help they can get because you can't say there is anyway they planned for this to happen," added Grimaldi.

The law firm also plans to set up a trust fund in Chad Oulson's name.  They also plan to move forward with a civil lawsuit against the former Tampa Police captain.

"I do plan on making civil claims and I think there are many that are warranted and have merit, however at this time I believe it is appropriate and my client has asked me to focus on what is in front of us and let that happen down the road," said Grimaldi.

The funeral for Chad Oulson will be held Saturday.
