HERNANDO COUNTY, FL (WFLA) - A 12-year-old girl was hospitalized Thursday afternoon after a car hit her near Seminole High School.

It happened in the 8400 block of 131st Street around 4:30 p.m.  Florida Highway Patrol troopers say Leah Martin tried to cross the road at a marked pedestrian crosswalk, and entered the path of a car.  The car hit Martin, and she was pinned underneath it.

Martin was transported to Bayfront Medical Center with critical injuries.  She was later transferred to All Children's Hospital.  As of Thursday night, a hospital spokesperson said Martin was in stable condition.
