Rays sign Price for 2014 season

Posted: Updated:
ST PETERSBURG, FL (WFLA) - Tampa Bay Rays officials announced Thursday that they have signed pitcher David Price for the new season avoiding arbitration, according to a press release from the team.

The left-handed pitcher Price, 28, a three-time All-Star and Cy Young Award winner, will earn $14 million for the season.

Price is a 6-year veteran and the team's all-time leader in earned run averages and winning percentage. In his final complete game at Texas on Sept. 30 he became the fifth pitcher in the major league history to record a complete-game victory in a one-game tiebreaker, according to the team officials.

Pitchers and catchers will report to spring training in 29 days.
