Arrests made in Pitt County shooting

Posted: Updated:
GREENVILLE, N.C. - Five arrests have been made in a Grimesland, NC shooting on January 16th, according to the Pitt County Sheriff's Office.

Robert Blount, 24, Devonelle Brimage, 23, Scottey Wright, 26, and Aaron Carter, 22, were arrested Friday evening after being located by U.S. Marshalls and brought in.

They are now facing charges including assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, and face at least one million dollar bonds each.  A fifth man is being charged as well and is currently in jail in another county.

The charges come after authorities say a man was shot while sitting in the passengers seat of a car during the early morning hours of January 16th.  That man remains hospitalized.

"Early in the investigation, it became apparent that these suspects had every intention to take a life that night," sheriff Neil Elks said.  "The victim is blessed to be alive, and we are relieved to get these violent criminals off the street."

U.S. Marshalls received assistance from the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office and Aurora PD in making the arrests.

Deputies are investigating an early morning shooting in Pitt County.

It happened around 4:30 a.m. at the Silverado Mobile Home Park.

Authorities say two cars, each with a driver and passenger, were driving around the mobile home park. When one of the cars stopped, the passenger got out and was standing beside the car. The other car pulled up and stopped to see what was going on. That’s when the passenger in the first car fired shots into the other car wounding its passenger.

It’s unknown if the incident is gang-related.

Family members tell 9 On Your Side the victim, who fled the scene to the South Grimesland Bridge Road area, is in surgery at Vidant Medical Center.
