CRANSTON, R.I. - Police are now looking for two cars in the case of a nationwide Amber Alert issued for a Woonsocket mother and child.

Police around the country are now on the lookout for a 1992 gray Chevy Astro van with Washington state license plate ABR1512.  This vehicle is in addition to a red 2004 Ford Focus with Rhode Island registration 942-649.

Police hope this information will lead them to Daniel Britt and his mother.

The Amber Alert was issued Wednesday for a 6-year-old boy from Woonsocket who police say may have been taken out of state by his mother and could be in danger.

Woonsocket police said Daniel Britt was last seen with his mother, Andria Britt on Jan. 8. They said she may be traveling to Washington state.

The alert also cited an “immediate risk of harm” to both Andria and Daniel Britt. The reason wasn’t disclosed.

The Providence Journal reported that Woonsocket police had gotten permission from the family court to examine Andria Britt’s medical records and determined the child could be in danger, which prompted the Amber Alert.

On Tuesday, Woonsocket police told NBC 10 that investigators and state police worked together to analyze the case, but opted not to issue an Amber Alert because they didn’t believe Daniel Britt was in any immediate physical danger. That changed Wednesday.

Daniel’s father, Sean Britt, told NBC 10 on Tuesday the last time he saw his son was Jan. 3.

“It was 8:30 in the morning when I dropped him off for his mother’s visitation, and that was the last time I saw him,” he said.

According to family court records, on Jan. 6, Andria Britt called Sean Britt and said her son was sick and wouldn’t be in school.

On Jan. 7 and 8, Daniel Britt’s school called Sean Britt to say his son was absent from school and that Andria Britt had not called the school.

Andria Britt missed her court date on Jan. 8 and Woonsocket police accompanied Sean Britt to her house for a welfare check. No one was home and a neighbor said Andria Britt and the boy hadn’t been home for at least a day.

On Jan. 9, a judge granted Sean Britt temporary sole custody of Daniel Britt.

The court has since granted the father sole custody.

Court documents also show Andria Britt accused her ex-husband of sexual assault and that she feared his alleged excessive drinking and drug use, saying her son was not safe in his care.

Sean Britt denied the accusations to NBC 10.

Police said Andria Britt is driving a red 2004 Ford Focus with Rhode Island registration 942-649. The car also has a yellow sticker that reads, “Support your local farmers” on the driver side back bumper.

Police described Daniel Britt as a white male, 4 feet 3 inches tall, weighing 50 pounds with blue eyes and brown hair. Andria Britt was described as a white female, 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighing between 110 and 120 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes. Police said Andria Britt has since dyed her hair blonde.

Anyone with information is asked to call 911, Rhode Island State Police at 401-444-1000 or the Woonsocket Police Department at 401-766-1212.
