Two Wayne County teens die of self-inflicted gunshot wounds

Two Wayne County teenagers were killed by self-inflicted gunshot wounds Monday in Goldsboro.

Wayne County Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to the area of the Little River Bridge on Capps Bridge Road around 3:30 p.m. Monday when they found two teenagers with what appeared to be self-inflicted gunshot wounds.

Rosewood High School student Spenser Terry Garrison, 16, was found dead in a pickup truck parked alongside Little River Bridge. His girlfriend, 15-year-old Malia K. Porter, was found in very poor condition, authorities said, and was airlifted to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville. The Wayne County Sheriff’s office says Porter died just after midnight Tuesday.

The Goldsboro News-Argus reports the the teens used the same gun.

A witness told the Goldsboro Daily News that the pickup truck had been seen at the location of the shooting multiple times Monday.

A vigil was held for the teens Monday night at Rosewood High School.
