MANATEE COUNTY, FL (WFLA) - A pair of figure skaters who train in Ellenton are going to the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi.

Over the weekend, Felicia Zhang and Nathan Bartholomay scored an upset by three-tenths of a point to grab second place at the U.S. Figure Skating Championships.  The two skated a near-flawless short program, and impressed judges again during the long program.

"We did the best we could ... and that's all that really mattered at that moment, nothing else," said Zhang.

"We've been training well," Batholomay said.  "I'd love to tell you that was different from what we do in practice, but we've been doing it every day.  The audience was phenomenal ... our coaches, our competitors, it just made it that much more special for us to be able to, you know, put it down here."

There was not an immediate guarantee that they would make the team.  Zhang and Bartholomay had to wait until Sunday morning for a vote by a selection committee.

Two other pairs who trained in Ellenton are also going to Sochi.  Stacey Kemp and David King will represent Great Britain.  Paige Lawrence and Rudi Swiegers will skate for Canada.

Melanie and Jeffrey Cornwell should have been getting a tax break for years on part of the homestead property in Dunedin they call their "little piece of Heaven." But due to a mistake at the Pinellas Property Appraiser's Office, they won't see any rebates for previous taxes, just a break on future tax bills.
