FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -

During this arctic blast of cold weather an organization in Fayetteville is doing a little extra to get people out of the cold.

Operation Inasmuch kept its doors open Monday night and will do the same on Tuesday night.

The organization is not usually a shelter though. Operation Inasmuch provides daily breakfast along with classes and counseling for the homeless. When it is extremely cold and the Salvation Army shelter could be full, operation inasmuch becomes another option for a warm place to stay.

"We're here in the good times and the bad time and although we show up every morning to do what we do, there are times at night when we're going to be here too," said the organization's leader Sue Byrd. "There's not enough shelter in this town.

The impromptu shelter usually involves putting mats and blankets on the dining room floor, but the Red Cross delivered cots on Monday.

"The people that come in here, we consider them family," Will White of Operation Inasmuch said. "You don't want to see your family member dead on the street because of the cold when you know you can help them out."

Also, during extremely cold weather Operation Inasmuch shows movies during the day so that people who are not in classes or counseling will also feel welcomed to stay inside.

Operation Inasmuch is currently working with local churches in hopes of eventually building a shelter of their own.
