Roanoke Rapids man shot in the leg following altercation

ROANOKE RAPIDS, N.C. -

A Roanoke Rapids man is recovering after being shot in the leg following an altercation with another man.

Halifax County deputies responded to reports of someone being shot Sunday, Jan. 5 around 6:30 a.m. on Key Street. When deputies arrived, they found a man who had been shot in the leg.

The victim told authorities that he and the suspect, 39-year-old Fredrick Lee Holiday, had an altercation before the shooting. The victim said he asked Holiday to leave. Holiday left but came back, kicked in the door and shot the victim.

The victim was taken to Halifax Regional Medical Center and then transferred to another facility.

The Halifax County Sheriff's Office has issued an arrest warrant for Holiday, who remains at large.

Anyone with information about Holiday's whereabouts is asked to call the sheriff's office or Halifax County CrimeStoppers.
