Heat restored in NC government office building

Posted: Updated:
RALEIGH, N.C. -

One North Carolina state government office building is getting warmer after a heating problem had workers resorting to space heaters and heavy coats indoors as a deep freeze swept into the state.

A state official confirmed Tuesday they had found a temporary solution to restore the heat to a section of the Old Revenue Building complex across the street from the old Capitol.

Secretary of State Elaine Marshall has many of her workers in that building section. Marshall said there had been no heat since Monday. She said the indoor temperature was in the mid-40s as temperatures dropped to 10 degrees outside Tuesday morning in the Raleigh area.

Department of Administration spokesman Chris Mears says miscommunication Monday sent repair workers to the wrong section of the building.
