DURHAM, N.C. -

A man living in Duke University's student center is believed to be connected to a number of robberies in the building, Duke Police said Monday.

The man, who was not identified by police, was living in the Religious Life office in the basement of the Bryan Center. Police were alerted to his presence after employees reported a strong smell of burning incense.

Duke Police said the man was arrested after being discovered in a locked office, and he is suspected in a number of office robberies in the building.

Associate Dean of Religious Life Christy Lohr told the Duke Chronicle that the man would not have been able to live in the basement during the school year because the area is more heavily trafficked.
