Sex offender arrested for supplying alcohol to teen girls

PINELLAS PARK, FL (WFLA) - A paralyzed registered sex offender is in the Pinellas County Jail facing a variety of charges stemming from a traffic stop that occurred late Friday night.

Joseph Hunter Price, 40, is being held without bond.

According to a Pinellas Park Police Department report an officer observed a vehicle traveling along US 19 without its headlights on just after 11 p.m. The officer followed the pick-up truck and noticed the driver was having a difficult time staying in the proper lane.

The officer pulled the vehicle over to find a juvenile female driver behind the wheel, a female juvenile in the middle seat and Price in the far right passenger seat. The driver, who smelled of alcohol the report states, did not have a valid driver’s license. Price admitted to the officer he was the owner of the truck.

As the officer was about to remove Price from the vehicle the females alerted him that he was paralyzed from the chest down. A subsequent investigation revealed that the female passenger lied about her true identity and date of birth.

She was arrested and charged with obstruction.

The driver was charged with operating a motor vehicle without a valid driver’s license.

Price, who has been in and out of prison most of his adult life, was charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor and for allowing an unauthorized person to operate a motor vehicle.

He has served seven stints in the state prison system for a variety of convictions out of Pasco County. Price earned his sex offender designation for a lewd and lascivious battery conviction in 1995.

He’s also been convicted on burglary, grand theft, battery on a law enforcement officer, dealing in stolen property and failure to register as a sex offender.

According to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement sex offender registry Price lives in Largo.
