Pedestrian hit by car, killed in Hillsborough County

RIVERVIEW, FL - A 48-year-old Riverview woman died Saturday night after she was struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross Bloomingdale Ave.

Grisel Perez-Garofalo was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to a Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office report the incident occurred at 7:36 p.m. at the intersection of Ivy Blvd. Investigators say Perez-Garofalo was crossing from north to south when she was hit by a 2012 Ford Fusion driven by Robert Ballentine of Brandon.

The deceased traveled directly into the path of the vehicle. Ballentine, 22, was not injured.

No charges have been filed as the investigation continues.
