5 vacant houses burn in Goldsboro in 6 weeks

GOLDSBORO, N.C. -

A suspicious fire has damaged a vacant home in Goldsboro for the fifth time in six weeks.

The News-Argus of Goldsboro reports that latest fire destroyed more than half of a vacant home Friday morning. Assistant Fire Chief James Farfour says samples from the fire were sent to state investigators because the pattern of burn marks seemed to indicate someone set the fire intentionally.

Investigators continue to look at three suspicious house fires in Goldsboro on Nov. 23 and 24 and a fourth suspicious fire on Dec. 11. All were in vacant homes. No one has been injured.

All five fires have been within 2 miles of each other.
