According to a Winter Haven Police Department report the suspect is facing domestic battery, kidnapping, aggravated assault and shooting into an occupied dwelling charge.

Archer’s violent behavior against his wife began on New Year’s Eve and extended into New Year’s Day the report states. Investigators say he became angry with his spouse and began assaulting her inside their home.

At one point Archer fired a weapon into a wall of their home in Winter Haven. The victim received significant injuries from numerous beatings. On New Year’s Day the victim convinced Archer to take her to the hospital but instead of taking her for medical treatment the suspect instead drove to Orlando where he threatened to end both of their lives.

Eventually the suspect drove back to Winter Haven but not before he pulled over and threatened to drown himself in a lake. Archer finally took his wife to a local hospital for treatment on Wednesday – New Year’s Day.

Before dropping her off Archer told his wife he would harm her if she did not tell a fabricated story as to how she was injured. The original story she told investigators and hospital staff included a fight with several females.

After she was treated and released the suspect drove the victim to a hotel on Highway 27 where he held her against her will for two days investigators say. On Friday Archer took his wife back to their home.

He fled the scene a short time later. The victim contacted relatives who in turn called police. Archer’s wife was transported to a nearby medical facility for treatment.
