TAMPA, FL (WFLA) - A young man was hospitalized at Tampa General Hospital tonight, recovering from burns caused by fireworks.

Officials say those fireworks were in his pocket when they went off.  As of Friday night, a hospital official told News Channel 8 that he is in fair condition.  They did not release his name.

An estimated 5,000 people nationwide are sent to the emergency room each year for fireworks injuries.
