A Short Pump waitress got a wonderful start to her new year, when a customer surprised her with the biggest tip she's ever received.

What started out as a rough morning turned into a pretty good afternoon for Samantha Perez.

"I was having a bad day, I was actually crying before I came to you guys' table, and I was like, 'Oh God, they are going to see how shot my voice is and that my eyes are red.' I was just like, 'I gotta get through the day,'" said Perez.

Later, the tears flowed for a different reason. Little did the Burger Bach waitress know she was serving a table full of people just planning to give her a huge tip.

It's something Seth Collins has been doing in honor of his brother, who died suddenly from cancer. He thought it would be a one-time thing, but so far he has surprised 97 waiters and waitresses in 47 states.

"It is incredibly rewarding to me to be able to be able to go surprise these people, because it's not about me, it's about my brother," said Collins.

But the surprise didn't stop there for Samantha. The folks at Snagajob matched Seth's $500 tip with another $500, leaving Samantha with a $1,000 tip.

"We have been following Seth's journey from the very beginning," said Kim Costa for Snagajob. "We have been in contact for more than a year, so to see it in person after watching all the videos was something we were really excited about. Snagajob is all about recognizing servers for their hard work."

Samantha's co-workers say this surprise could not have happened to a more deserving person.

"I appreciate it so much, this is the most insane thing that ever happened to me in my whole life," said Perez. "God, I can't stop from crying."

Collins plans to visit three more states to surprise more unsuspecting servers. As for Perez, she says she plans to give some of the money away to help someone else.
