New Year's Day babies born in Bradenton, Tampa, Clearwater

Some local babies will have extra reason to celebrate New Year's Day every year of their life, their birthdays also fall on January 1.

Three New Year's Day babies were born at Tampa Bay-area hospitals.

Amelia Marlae Fergerson was born at 12:15 a.m. at Manatee Memorial Hospital. A hospital spokesperson says Amelia weighed 6 pounds, 8 ounces and is 20-inches-long. Amelia's mother, Brianna Fergerson will receive a gift bag from the hospital to commemorate the New Year's Day delivery.

Aileen Capula Martinez was born at 12:33 a.m. at Tampa General Hospital. She weighed in at 7 pounds, 14 ounces and is 20 1/2 -inches-long.

Aileen's mother, Lucero Martinez, lives in Ruskin and also has a three-year-old son. The attending physician was Dr. James Palmer of USF Health, according to a hospital spokesperson.

An infant at Morton Plant Hospital in Clearwater missed being the first baby of the new year by a few hours. A hospital spokesperson says the baby was born at 6:48 a.m.
