ST PETERSBURG, FL - For the 21st year, St. Petersburg's party to welcome in the New Year attracted thousands of people.

Revelers strolled the sidewalks, stopping to enjoy events along the way.  Joe Lock has seen this event grow during his 31 years living in the city.

"We came to the first night, which was really fantastic, and after about 5 years, got a little bit difficult because too many people came down.  But then they've made it into a nice family thing now," said Lock.

First Night partiers enjoyed a luminary labyrinth, soap bubbles filled with smoke, some fancy shadow dancing, and all kinds of treats to keep taste buds happy.

"This is my first here and I love it.  It's just amazing.  Every step you take, you walk into something really great," said Patti Murray.

Among all the food, music and lights, there are some unique experiences to savor. That includes a harness device that allows you to climb one of the famous Banyan trees.
