TAMPA, FL (WFLA) -

Louisiana State University Tigers and Iowa State University Hawkeyes will meet Jan. 1 in the Outback Bowl at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa. The coaches of the football teams talked about their game prep, the key players and about previous bowl experiences.

"We're thrilled to be selected to play in this game," said Iowa coach Kurt Ferentz. "Tampa Bay provides a great venue for a bowl game."

He spoke about the big challenge the team had at hand to play with LSU and hoped this would be a great football game.

LSU coach Les Miles said his players and their families loved the bowl venue here. He is also happy to be in the bowl and play such an opponent as Iowa.

"We're looking forward very much to the competition," he said about the game.

Before the game, Ybor City is hosting the official Outback Bowl New Year's Eve and a pep rally. It starts Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. and will run along 7th Avenue. This year's parade will feature 15 marching bands in addition to floats, the parade organizers said. The parade is free and open to public.

The bowl kickoff is Wednesday at 1 p.m. You can still buy tickets at ticketmaster.com
