Married Polk teachers charged with domestic violence

LAKE WALES, FL (WFLA) - Two Polk County teachers who are married to each other face domestic violence charges after an argument at their home.

Polk County Sheriff's Deputies arrested Timothy Martin, 47, and his wife Donna Martin, 51, at their home in Lake Wales on Saturday.

Investigators say Donna Martin tried to slap Timothy Martin in the face and Timothy blocked the slap with his arm. He then allegedly grabbed a handgun and threatened to kill his wife. Investigators say he also spat in her face twice.

The couple's child witnessed the incident and called authorities.

Donna Martin is a teacher at Polk Avenue Elementary in Lake Wales. Timothy Martin is a teacher at Ridge Career Center in Winter Haven.

Donna Martin was charged with domestic violence-battery and Timothy Martin was charged with domestic violence-battery, and domestic violence aggravated assault. Both were booked into the Polk County Jail and have bonded out.
