Outback Bowl participants visit kids at Tampa General Hospital

TAMPA, FL (WFLA) - Collegiate football players and coaches in town to compete in the Outback Bowl on New Year’s Day brightened the day for a group of kids in the children’s wing of Tampa General Hospital on Saturday afternoon.

Representatives from the LSU Tigers and Iowa Hawkeyes distributed posters, pennants, t-shirts and hats to the youngsters. They also signed autographs for over 30 kids at the medical facility.

Among the Tigers’ contingent were wide receivers Jarvis Landry and Odell Beckham Jr. and quarterback Zack Mettenberger.

Running back Akrum Wadley, defensive back Kevin Ward, fullback Berkley Grimm, quarterback Justin Joyce and kicker Alden Haffar of the Hawkeyes spread holiday cheer to the children.

The two teams will meet on the gridiron of Raymond James Stadium on Wednesday. Kickoff for the game is 1 p.m.
