PLANT CITY, FL (WFLA) -

National Guard members will return home to the Bay area, just in time for Christmas.

The 200 members of the Florida Army National Guard's 3rd Battalion, 116th Field Artillery Regiment left for Qatar in April.  They returned to the U.S. Sunday and are currently stationed at Camp Shelby in Mississippi for demobilization.

Thanks to the generosity of strangers, they'll get to spend a 4-day leave at home with their families.

American Legion Post 71 in Lake Wales put out a call to help bring them home.  They needed to raise $35,000 to buy roundtrip bus tickets for each of the troops.  Donations started pouring in and several corporate sponsors chipped in when Governor Rick Scott's office sent out a tweet about the troops.

The first buses are scheduled to arrive in Plant City Tuesday.  Troops on three other buses will arrive in Lake Wales and Arcadia.  News Channel 8 will be waiting with lots of excited family members and friends.
