BRADENTON, FL (WFLA) - A pair of brothers in Bradenton is facing burglary charges stemming from the theft of two water heaters from a vacant home on Rye Rd.

Justin and Jeffrey Ludlum were arrested Friday and booked into the Manatee County Jail. They are being held without bond pending their first appearance before a judge.

According to a Manatee County Sheriff’s Office report a witness observed two males loading the water heaters into a vehicle on December 2. The residence is located at 520 Rye Rd. Northeast.

The witness did not recognize the pair as having an association with home and wrote down the tag number and description of the vehicle. An investigation revealed the suspect vehicle is registered to Jeffrey Ludlum, 34.

Investigators say Jeffrey and Brother Justin, 29, sold the water heaters to a local scrap yard on the day of the theft. When deputies contacted the owner of the property he said he did not know the Ludlums and he did not give them permission to take the water heaters.

In addition to the burglary charge the brothers are also facing one count of dealing in stolen property. Jeffrey and Justin are no strangers to law enforcement in Manatee County. Both have prior arrests on a variety of charges including shoplifting, petit theft and dealing in stolen property.
