HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL (WFLA) -

After thieves took 10 bicycles and a van from a migrant mission in Hillsborough County, the entire community brought donations and gifts to make sure those in need get to have a Christmas, the mission officials said.

Thieves took the bikes from box truck and stole a van from Beth-El Mission's parking lot last Tuesday. Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office detectives are investigating the crime. They found the badly damaged van, but no bikes. They also haven't identified the people responsible.

After WFLA News Channel 8 ran a story about the robbery this week, Tampa Bay residents stepped in to help the mission. They brought more than 20 new bikes, toys and other goods to the mission to make sure people get the gifts despite the mission’s hardship.

The mission volunteers will help distribute these Christmas gifts from the community. HCSO continue to investigate the incident.
