Couple to celebrate 70th wedding anniversary on Christmas day

Posted: Updated:
WOODHAVEN, MI - It's a milestone few couples hit, but on Christmas day Frederick and Betty Lou Walters will celebrate 70 years of marriage.

To help mark their seven decades together, 90-year-old Frederick and 87-year-old Betty Lou renewed their vows Thursday at a nursing center in Woodhaven, Michigan.  At the ceremony, Frederick talked about the couple's long history.

"I started going with this little lady when she was 13 years old and I was 15,” said Frederick.  “When she was 18, and I was 20, I came down from Alaska and we got married."

Frederick says if he lives to be 100 he plans to renew his vows with Betty Lou again.
