Bucs' Schiano talks about loss, offense

Posted: Updated:
TAMPA, FL (WFLA) -

Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Greg Schiano spoke with News Channel 8’s Dan Lucas in weekly Bucs Bonus Monday segment.

The Bucs lost a frustrating game 33-14 to the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday. After trailing 17-0 in the second quarter, the Bucs closed the gap to 6 points early in the fourth quarter.

Schiano described the critical moment following a Bucs touchdown. The 49ers embarked on a 17-play, 87-yard drive, taking more than 10 minutes of time off the clock.

During that drive, 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick escaped a pass rush on a 3rd down and 12-play, completing a pass to wide receiver, Michael Crabtree.

Despite the loss, Schiano says quarterback Mike Glennon took yet another step in his growth as a starter, navigating the Bucs offense through a pair of “no huddle” drives. Both long drives resulted in the Bucs two touchdowns on the day.

However, take away those two drives (80 and 92 yards), the Bucs offense produced just 11 yards of offense for the entire game.
