A Lake County couple is facing felony charges for Medicaid fraud.

Authorities arrested James and Grisselle Davis after a state investigation revealed the couple allegedly billed the Medicaid program for nearly $80,000 for mental health services that were never rendered.

Prosecutors say the Davises directed employees of Kingdom Builders Ministries to bill entire families when only one member received treatment. They say the couple told workers to bill for unauthorized expenses, such as travel time, staff meetings and phone calls.

Authorities also allege that the Davises received payment for treating children who had no documented mental illness.

The Davises are each charged with one count of participating in an organized scheme to defraud Medicaid. If convicted, they each face up to 15 years in prison and up to $10,000 in fines.

Both suspects were released from the Lake County Jail after posting a bond of $5,000. The Davises are scheduled to be arraigned in court on the charges on January 6th, 2014.
