LARGO, FL (WFLA) - Pinellas County Sheriff's detectives say they've received five or six new complaints following Monday's arrest of licensed massage therapist Ronald Bruinius, 36, on a charge of sexual battery.

A 53-year-old client of Bruinius told detectives he "inappropriately touched" her during a massage session in July at the Artistic Expressions Day Spa in Largo.

Now, the investigation is widening.

"Our detectives are talking to those individuals and trying to see if it leads to anything," said sheriff's spokesperson Cecilia Barreda.

A manager at the Day Spa where Bruinius worked as an independent contractor said Tuesday she wasn't aware of any problems until his arrest Monday.

But detectives revealed Thursday there have been three prior criminal complaints about Bruinius investigated by law enforcement. One by their agency and two others by other agencies.

None of those investigations resulted in any criminal charges. Barreda said the Pinellas State Attorney's Office decided not to charge Bruinius in the prior case handled by the sheriff's office. In another case the victim decided against pursuing charges. It's not clear what happened in the third case.

Thursday night, Bruinius remained in the Pinellas jail under a $50,000 bond while detectives spent their time pursuing new leads.
