TAMPA, FL (WFLA) - Gov. Rick Scott is expected to announce a tax cut proposal in Tampa Thursday afternoon.

Scott says he is proposing to cut $500 million in taxes and fees during the upcoming legislative session.

The governor is expected to announce a proposal involving car registration fees that would drop the cost to register a typical vehicle by $25, according to a report by The Associated Press.

Currently, annual registration for a car under 2,500 pounds costs $46.15, according to the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles website.

Gov. Scott is scheduled to speak at the Hilton Tampa Airport Westshore at 3:15 pm.
