A Clayton business owner and former Marine is making big moves to protect people from criminals and bullies.
CJ Scarlet is pushing a device called the Tiger Eye Security Sensor, or TESS. Scarlet's invention is hand-free and voice activated. TESS will call for help when those who wear it need it.
"If you are wearing the device, it looks like a piece of jewelry," said Scarlet. "You say words like, 'Help,' 'Stop,' Go away,' 'Leave me alone,' the device will automatically call police to your GPS location."
Scarlet introduced the security device and her fundraising campaign to community and political leaders Tuesday night.
She encouraged the women to share her invention with others.
Scarlet said TESS will cost $100,000 to bring the device to the marketplace.
Donations to bring TESS to life can be made here.
