TAMPA, FL (WFLA) - A Jamaican national has been arrested after being found on an inbound cargo ship at the Port of Tampa.

Hillsborough Couunty Sheriff's deputies assigned to the Homeland Security Division - Port Security Squad assisted U.S. Customs and Border Protection say they made the arrest Monday night.

According to federal and local investigators, Duwayne Hines a Jamaican national, boarded the maritime cargo vessel "Dinkeldiep" while in a Jamaican port without permission. He had 3.7 pounds of marijuana with him.

The ship's crew notified authorities after they found Hines hiding on the boat while at out at sea. Customs officials were waiting at the docks when the ship arrived at 2001 Maritime Blvd, berth 245 in the Port of Tampa.

Deputies charged Hines with felony possession of marijuana and an immigration hold was issued. Hines is currently being held in the Hillsborough County Jail.
