Following the completion of a prestigious Craniofacial and Pediatric Plastic Surgery Fellowship at the Children's Hospital in Los Angeles, Dr. LaGrasso turned his attention to opening his private practice. After working extensively with women on all types of beauty procedures, he found that the vast majority of his clients shared a common concern: the dimply appearance of cellulite, which affects the majority of adults in America. Carefully studying the problem, he found most of the traditional methods to be ineffective, highly invasive and harmful to the body, but discovered an acceptable solution in the form of VASERsmooth.
"I've enjoyed a long relationship with VASER, so when VASERsmooth was introduced I was given early access to the technology," says Dr. LaGrasso. "Cellulite has always been a concern for everyone. I began performing it free of charge on liposuction patients and after seeing the results, I helped expand the protocol to treat a wider area to get more skin contraction, placing fat under the skin to smooth it out and to treat a higher percentage of the cellulite bands."
During LaGrasso's procedure, a numbing agent is applied to the target area and a small incision is made in the skin. The VASERsmooth probe then breaks up irregular fat cells and cuts the bands responsible for cellulite while transferring a small amount of energy to the tissue. This process selectively breaks apart cellulite while preserving the surrounding skin, muscle and tissue, and it's non-damaging effects significantly shorten a patient's recovery time. In Dr. LaGrasso's talented hands, VASERsmooth has proven to be more cost-effective, less invasive and up to 80% more efficient in treating cellulite than other non-invasive methods.
